Marvel Snap – The fastest card battler, is a new game from studio Second Dinner. Currently in a closed beta phase, testers are playing the game and providing valuable feedback to make the game even better! Now, you might be wondering who is the composer who wrote Marvel Snap’s music? Well, I am pleased and joyed to say, it was me! I’ve spent the last 2 years working on not only just the music but literally everything you hear in the game! And yes, it is a lot, there are hundreds of sounds hooked up in the game! The music itself took quite a while and it might not be easy to tell why, but behind the scenes there is some complex tech that fires off different music loops throughout gameplay as you progress through your turns. You will see that this dynamic music will evolve even further as I add more loops and more complexity to the music system as a whole. It was truly a joy to work on, and there is so much more coming!
I couldn’t write an article about the game without gives mad props to the whole Second Dinner team, who is an incredibly nimble, tight-knit crew that made this game a reality. I’m honored to be a part of the team, and to contribute my audio work to it. Stay tuned as we continue to polish and develop the game for all of you to enjoy!
Here are some fun and interesting things in the game so far:
- At the time of writing this there are over 1000 unique sounds in the game!
- The gameplay music consists of 35 unique instrument/music tracks.
- If you listen carefully you will hear Ben Brode’s laugh somewhere in the game! I’m not going to give it away… you’ll have to find it for yourself! 😉
- My voice, my wife’s voice and my cat’s voice can also be heard in the game!
Let me know if there is anything you come across in Marvel Snap audio-wise or other that you love/hate/whatever! I would love to know what you all think of it! 🙂
